What does Zyxel's Smart Antenna Technology Do?

Sometimes it seems even with the addition of a new wireless access point (at let's say, a crowded coffeeshop), things don't really improve all that much in terms of internet speeds. Ever wonder why that is? In most cases, this problem is caused by something called co-channel interference.

Take for example having two or more neighboring access points. When you have a situation where two or more access points are operating on the same channel there can sometimes be an overlapping effect, or interference, that drags down Wi-Fi performance considerably.

Thankfully though, Zyxel has a solution to this common problem and it's called a Smart Antenna technology. When a Smart Antenna-enabled access point detects another access point operating on the same channel, it will automatically change it's pattern to reduce interference. This helps to ensure fast and reliable data transmission and no pesky co-channel interference.

Here's another video that does a fantastic job explaining just what Smart Antenna technology is and how it works:

In fact, Zyxel smart antennas eliminate interference and deliver Wi-Fi performance up to 100% better than other industry-leading manufacturers. How do we know this? Because we put our APs head-to-head with the best in the business. (You can learn all about the independent performance testing report from the Networking Group at the University of Brescia, leading experts in the field of wireless network performance. To put the technology through its paces, they compared 802.11ac Wi-Fi APs equipped with and without smart antenna technology from four leading networking brands: Aruba, Cisco, Ruckus, and ZyXEL. Two were equipped with smart antennas, and all featured three spatial streams and support for 2.4GHz and 5GHz radio bands.) For the link, click HERE
