The internet as we know it today, as well as the way we interact with it, has changed significantly during the last few years. The rise (and fall of some) social media platforms, the increase in mobile browsing and the influx of IoT devices has made us more reliant on internet connectivity than ever before.
A recent infographic made by @LoriLewis and @OfficiallyChadd aggregates the online activity of billions of people globally, to see what an internet minute looks like. And the results are downright mind-blowing.
Hard to believe that 188 million emails are sent every minute, as well as upwards of 4.5 million videos are viewed on YouTube. Platforms such as Instagram and Netflix continue to grow, while relatively newer categories such as smart speakers are growing as well, further indicating that the Internet of Things isn't just some passing fad.
The 2019 infographic is even more interesting when compared to last year's:
