Welcome to another edition of our Employee Spotlight blog. This month we are featuring Market Development Manager, Tri Nguyen. We asked Tri some questions so that we all can get to know him a little better, including what he has learned from the company that he applies in his personal life.
Q: When did you start working for Zyxel Networks and what drove you to start a career with the company?
Tri: I have been with Zyxel since May 2004. Prior to that, I was working at a telco internet networking company for five years while attending college at UCLA. Computers and networking had been my passion since my dad brought home our first PC, an x86 powered with a 4MB hard drive and 2x 5 1/4" floppy drives. The telco company I was working for was using Zyxel equipment to provide DSL technology into buildings, so I had already been using Zyxel technology.
Q: You have been with Zyxel Networks for over a decade, what have you learned from the company that you apply in
Tri: I have learned to come out of my shell and realized that I am more of an extrovert than an introvert as I grew up believing. I found out I enjoyed and thrived to interact and train peers and customers and talk about technology. I love being in front of people to lead them in my personal walks of life, performing on stage publicly in various musicals and leading church worship on Sundays.
Q: As a Market Development Manager, what is the favorite part of your job? Any memorable moments?
Tri: I enjoy talking about technology and teaching people about these new and exciting Zyxel products that bring these technologies to real world applications. Moments to get to speak to hundreds of people through webinars and in person meetings and trainings throughout the US.
Q: What is your favorite Zyxel product and why?
Tri: Network Security Products are my favorite because it is something people typically overlook in their protection of their business. There are so many ways that a business can be attacked over the network and these tools help to prevent or block those attacks. Additionally, this product can run hotspots, remote access VPN, remote monitoring, bandwidth control, control website content and even detect unknown potential malicious files or behaviors. It is a pretty packed product.
Q: Let us talk about the future, what are your goals you would like to accomplish in life or while with Zyxel Networks?
Tri: To continue to grow as a better father and husband and person who has purpose in life. In Zyxel I want to continue to learn more about new technologies and help get people connected in a safe way, using technology that just seems like magic to most people.
Q: What do you like to do outside of work?
Tri: I like to travel, hike, camp with my family, sing, and volunteer as a worship leader at our local church.
Q: What is your personal mantra?
Tri: We are all here for a greater purpose, so let us make the most of it and not lose faith or hope, but to put that faith and hope in Jesus.
